The night before the night, Devin pulled out. Mia had to go to Chicago for a family member in the hospital. He apologized a million times. I pretended it wasn’t a big deal, but all of this started to irk me. How long was I supposed to deal with it? I understood he had to be responsible for his child.

Maybe Devin wasn’t ready for a relationship. The timing of everything played with me though.

Lyric and Nina got into my head. I asked Devin about it when he called me. He laughed because he made Mia show him her itinerary for her flight. He even thought she was lying.

Devin believed Mia didn’t want him and claimed he had no feelings for her past her being the mother of his kid. When I had access to sex but couldn’t get it, the polite filter disappeared. I asked everything I needed to satisfy my curiosity dealing with his ex-wife’s possible plot to give me a blue bean as Nina would put it.

My toys and shower head did what they could for the time being. If I had no man, they’d be enough. My body knew a rock was within grasp and the battery-operated assistance wouldn’t cut it.

Today, Devin told me to come over after work. In the back of my mind, I thought we’d be breaking up. Bracing myself, I took a deep breath and knocked on his apartment door. It swung open with a quickness.

Devin’s arm swooped around my waist, pulling me inside. No words, just his thick, warm tongue wandering my mouth. I accepted it without an ounce of hesitation. He shut the door with his foot and locked it as our mouths were still locked together.

His body pressed against mine with so much force, I couldn’t keep my balance and stepped backwards. My back collided with the wall next to the TV. Devin’s tongue continued to invade my mouth with aggression. Then he bit my neck gently and sucked on one spot before his hands slid into the top of my jeans. Once he gripped a handful of my ass, he stopped.

He put his face in my neck trying to slow his rapid breathing then finally looked at me. “Noelle, I am so sorry. I don’t mean to be rough. I just—”

“Boy, if you don’t shut up. You said you wanted me. Show and prove.”

The smirk on his face drew moisture between my legs. I was too ready. My lips crashed on his as I helped him out of his shirt. Those damn basketball shorts he wore did absolutely nothing to conceal his erection and gave me easy access. I stuck my hand inside them and finally felt it. It was going to be a good ass night.

“Mmm.” Devin bit his bottom lip and rested his forehead on mine.

“You have condoms, right? If not, I brought some.”

He laughed and nodded his head to a side table with a few waiting for us to be responsible adults. Devin pulled me by the shirt and led me to the couch.
